Students in the NASAD-accredited MFA program “concentrate on the philosophical, communicative, and aesthetic relationships of visual problem solving and the interacting skills leading to the effective articulation of concepts,” says the school. Graduates will have the skills and knowledge needed to pursue a career in Design Education and/or further their professional practices in conducting visual or theoretical research, and in investigating the intersections of function and expression in design problem solving. Otis College of Art and Design (OTIS) was established in 1918 by founder and publisher of the Los Angeles Times, General Harrison Gray Otis. The school serves approximately 1,100 full-time students enrolled in 11 BFA degree programs ranging from Graphic Design to Toy Design.

Students will learn about UX/UI design, storyboarding, typography and type design, printmaking and traditional letterpress, and motion sequences design. Course examples for this 120 credit hour program include Graphic Design 1-3, Advanced Interactive, 2D, 3D, and 4D, Professional Practice Workshop, Typography 1-3, Graphic Design Tools, and Writing 1-2. To graduate, Graphic Design BFA students will complete an internship and a Thesis Project.

Today, the Palacio de Mansilla stands as a testament to Segovia's commitment to higher education and its rich architectural heritage. In the final year of the program, BFA students will take the Graphic Design Digital Portfolio and Professional Practice course. Companies and organizations that have hired USF Design graduates include Google, Harper Collins, Oracle, The Discovery Science Center in Orange County, Apple, Twitter, San Francisco Magazine, Disney, Etsy, Pandora, and the Harvey Milk Center for the Arts.

Students can complete a broad design degree without a concentration, or choose a concentration in Communication or Fashion.
